Tiz the Law Wins Quiet Belmont Stakes

Tiz the Law, under usual jockey Manuel "Manny" Franco, romped home in the considerably shortened Belmont Stakes this afternoon.  The field of ten broke from the starting gate smoothly, and Tap It To Win, from post position one, took the early lead, staying there until the top of the stretch.  Fore Left, who had been close behind the leader began to fade, and Tiz the Law, who had been running in third place for most of the race, just continued cruising on....
The bay colt with the large blaze was sired by Constitution, and is out of the Tiznow mare Tizfiz.  Bred in New York, he is trained by 82-year-old Barclay Tagg.  Tiz the Law ran the 1 1/8 miles on a fast track in 1:46.53, and won the race by 3 3/4 lengths.  A $2 win bet paid $3.60

Dr. Post finished in second, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Max Player who beat Pneumatic across the finish line by 2 1/2 lengths. The other entrants finished in the following order: Tap It To Win faded to fifth, followed by Sole Volante, Modernist, Farmington Road, Fore Left and Jungle Runner.
With no fans, and only the trainers, jockeys, track workers and backside stable employees, it was an eerie sight.
