Breeders Cup Results For Saturday, 7 November 2020

America got to celebrate the Breeders Cup races today, as well as the announcement of the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election, about 20 minutes before the first post time at 12:02 pm EST.  Joseph R. Biden Jr. was given the nod by the political observers as the President-elect of the United States, with at least 279 Electoral votes.  I could relax a bit, mentally and physically, for the annual thoroughbred racing treat.
Today's races were attended by very few, due to the pandemic - owners, trainers, breeders, grooms, and backside and track workers only were there to see 9 races worth $31 million in prize money.  Due to the pandemic, 71-year-old trainer Dermot Weld stayed at home and sent his son Mark as his representative for his lone runner.  And French jockey Christophe Soumillon was the only rider out of 55 attending the Breeders Cup to have two positive Covid-19 tests.  He was to ride three horses today - French Jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot was able to pick up two mounts for him, and Irish jockey Colin Keane stepped up to be the reinsman for Dermot Weld's filly in the Turf.
For several horses racing today, it was the last race before retirement, as either a broodmare or stallion; and for a few horses, it was the last race for their current owners, as the horses are set to be auctioned soon - either to race again, or for retirement for breeding purposes.  The juvenile racers yesterday provided a few surprises, but that happens frequently with youngsters.  There were a few surprises in today's races as well.
As with yesterday's blog report, I will supply the name of the race, the complete order of finish (including the winning margins for the first four contestants across the finish line), and the betting payouts for a $2 bet in each category.  (At Keeneland, you can make Trifecta bets in increments of 50 cents, and Superfecta bets in increments of 10 cents - my payout numbers are for a $2 bet in each case.)

The first Breeders Cup race today was the Fillies & Mares Sprint, with a purse of $1 million, and with 8 entries, as Inthemidstofbiz was scratched.  The lady to first cross the line today was Gamine, who finished the 7 furlongs in a Track Record time of 1:20.20 and was 6 1/4 lengths ahead of Serengeti Empress, in second.  Bell's the One was only a nose back in third, and beat Sconsin across the line by 1/2 length.  The last half of the field followed in this order: Come Dancing, Speech, Sally's Curlin and Venetian Harbor.  A win bet on Gamine paid $4.20; a place bet on Serengeti Empress paid $4; and a show bet on Bell's the One paid $3.  The Perfecta paid $16.20; the Trifecta paid $52; and the Superfecta paid $514.
Gamine, jockey John Velazquez, trainer Bob  Baffert

The second BC race was the Turf Sprint, a 5 1/2 furlong dash worth $1 million that drew a full field of 14 entries.  Four ladies ran against the boys, but with only two international starters because of the shortness of the race. Another Track Record was set, with Glass Slippers (GB), a 4-year-old filly, winning by a 1/2 length in 1:01.53.  Wet Your Whistle was  a 1/2 length ahead of Leinster, who beat Extravagant Kid across the finish line by a head.  Following those four were: Got Stormy, Front Run the Fed, Wildman Jack, Bombard, Oleksandra (AUS), Big Runnuer, Texas Wedge, Into Mystic, Imprimis, and Just Might.  A win bet on Glass SLipper (GB) paid $22.40; a place bet on Wet Your Whistle paid $25; and a show bet on Leinster paid $3.60.  The Perfecta paid $834.20; the Trifecta paid $4,945; and the Superfecta paid $81,689.60.
Glass Slippers (GB), jockey Tom Eaves, trainer Kevin Ryan

The Dirt Mile was next on the card, worth another $1 million.  Only males contested the race this year, with a full field of 12, and everyone bred in Kentucky, except Knicks Go, a Maryland-bred.  The winner was Knicks Go, winning by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:33.85, yet another Track Record.  Jesus' Team was just a nose ahead of Sharp Samurai, who was a 1/2 length in front of Complexity.  Owendale, Mr. Freeze, Rushie, Art Collector, War of Will, Silver Dust, Mr. Money and Pirate's Punch followed the leaders over the line.  A in bet on Knicks Go paid $5.60; a place bet on Jesus' Team paid $33.60; and a show bet on Sharp Samurai paid $4.60.  A Perfecta paid $219.60; a Trifecta paid $2,464.60; and the Superfecta paid $14,596.
Knicks Go, jockey Joel Rosario, trainer Brad Cox

The 1 3/16 miles Fillies & Mares Turf had a purse of $2 million, with a full field of 14 contenders.  The ladies ranged in age from 3 to 7, with 8 of them bred in Europe.  Starship Jubilee was making her last start before becoming a broodmare.  She stumbled coming out of the gate and lost her rider, a sad end to her 5-year racing career.  It was a hotly contested race, with Audarya (FR) winning by a neck in 1:52.72.  Rushing Fall was a head in front of Harvey's Lil Goil, who was 3/4 length in front of Lady Prancealot (IRE).  They were chased across the finish by Civil Union, Sistercharlie (IRE), Mean Mary, Nay Lady Nay (IRE), My Sister Nat (FR), Cayenne Pepper (IRE), Peaceful (IRE), Mucho Unusual, and Terebellum (IRE).  - I sent a question to commentator and ex-jockey Jerry Bailey before the race asking if two half-siblings from the same dam (Sistercharlie and My Sister Nat) had competed against each other in the Breeders Cup before, and he answered, on air, that it had happened once before, in 2018. - A win bet on Audarya (FR) paid $37.60; a place bet on Rushing Fall paid $4.80; a show bet on Harvey's Lil Goil paid $10.80.  The Perfecta paid $199.20; the Trifecta paid $3,398.60; and the Superfecta paid $79,790.40.  *Audarya was a mount originally to be ridden by Christophe Sumillion, with his positive test, Pierre-Charles Boudot got the mount.
Audarya (FR), jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot, trainer James Fanshawe

The $2 million Sprint over 6 furlongs was next up, with a full field of 14.  Vekoma was a scratch due to a fever, and Lasting Legacy drew into the field.  Frank's Rockette was the only female in the entries.  The 7-year-old gelding Whitmore out ran everyone, winning by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:08.61.  C Z Rocket was second by a neck over Firenze Fire, who finished 3/4 length ahead of Empire of Gold.  The rest followed in  this order: Manny Wah, Diamond Oops, Hog Creek Hustle, Yaupon, Lasting Legacy, Bon Raison, Frank's Rockette, Collusion Illusion, Echo Town and Jasper Prince.  A win bet on Whitmore paid $38.80; a place bet on C Z Rocket paid $7.60; a show bet on Firenze Fire paid $6.40.  The Perfecta paid $276; the Trifecta paid $2,184; and the Superfecta paid $59,771.60.
Whitmore, jockey Irad Ortiz Jr, trainer Ron Moquett

The Turf Mile also drew a full field of 14 for the $2 million purse.  One Master was a scratch yesterday, so Order of Australia (IRE) filled in her spot, running from gate 14, as horses 10 to 14 moved one space to the left.  Ages ranged from 3 to 7 years, and there were 8 international starters, including Ivar (BRZ),the grandson of Kentucky Derby, Preakness and BC Classic winner Sunday Silence.  One Master's scratch left Uni as the only female in the race.  Order of Australia (IRE), the draw-in, won the race by a neck in 1:33.73 - and under a substitute jockey, again, Pierre-Charles Boudot, who was replacing Christophe Soumillon, the Covid-19 positive rider.  Circus Maximus (IRE) finished second, 3/4 length in front of Lope Y Fernandez (IRE), who was 1 length ahead of Ivar (BRZ).  The mare Uni (GB) came next, followed by Halladay, Kameko, Factor This, Siskin, Raging Bull (FR), Digital Age (IRE), Casa Creed, March to the Arch, and Safe Voyage (IRE).  A win bet on Order of Australia (IRE) paid $148.40; a place bet on Circus Maximus (IRE) paid $12.60; and a show bet on Lope Y Fernandez (IRE) paid $12.60.  The Perfecta paid 42,117.80; the Trifecta paid $17,572; and the Superfecta paid $305,609.60.   * Aidan O'Brien is the trainer of the first three finishers in this race.
Order of Australia (IRE), jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot, trainer Aidan O'Brien

The $2 million Distaff drew a field of 10, ranging in age from 3 to 5 in the 1 1/8 mile race.  The morning line betting favorite, 5-year-old Monomoy Girl, is scheduled to be sold this week in Keeneland's Breeding Stock sale.  Her trainer is hoping the new owner will race her again next year, and, hopefully, keep him as the trainer.    The second choice was Swiss Skydiver, who won the Preakness in October, beating the boys.  Swiss Skydiver stumbled coming out of the gate and was in last place for most of the race.  Monomoy Girl (maybe) finished her racing career in style, taking the Distaff crown by 1 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:47.84.   She was chased across the line by Valiance, who was a 1/2 length ahead of Dunstan Road, who was only a neck in front of Harvest Moon.  They were followed by: Ce Ce, Point of Honor, Swiss Skydiver, Ollie's Candy, Horologist and Lady Kate.  A win bet on Monomoy Girl paid $4; a place bet on Valiance paid $8.80; and a show bet on Dunstan Road paid $8.  The Perfecta paid $42.60; the Trifecta paid $525.40; and the Superfecta paid $3,580.20.
Monomoy Girl, jockey Florent Geroux, trainer Brad Cox

The 1  1/2 mile Turf race had a purse of $4 million this year, and 10 owners and trainers felt confident enough to enter.  There were 6 international entries, and 4 of those 6 were ladies.  Irish trainer Dermot Weld, who has won races in 7 different countries, including one Triple Crown race here in the US, had never won a Breeders Cup, although he has tried.  The only horse he entered this year was  filly, and her regular jockey was the positive-testing Christophe Soumillon.  Irish jockey Colin Keane picked up the mount, and, because of the pandemic, Dermot Weld stayed at home.  Tarnawa (IRE), Weld's only entry, won the Turf by 1 length in a time of 2:28.02.  Magical (IRE) was second by a nose over Channel Maker (ONT), who finished 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Lord North (IRE).  The order of finish for the rest was: Mogul (GB), Arklow, Mehdaayih (GB), United, Red King, and Donjah (GER).  A win bet on Tarnawa (IRE) paid $11.40; a place bet on Magical (IRE) paid $4; and a show bet on Channel Maker (ONT) paid $5.60.  The Perfecta paid $36.20; the Trifecta paid $284.40; and the Superfecta paid $1,802.20.  * Each horse that French jockey Christophe Soumillon was set to ride won with one of two replacement riders.  Both jockeys, Bouton and Keane, said that Somillon had given them insights into the horses the rode in his stead.
Tarnawa (IRE), jockey Colin Keane, trainer Dermot Weld

The final Breeders Cup race was worth $6 million - the Classic, run at 1 1/4 miles on the dirt track.  All of the analysts agreed that the field of ten was pretty evenly matched, even though they ranged in age from 3 to 7.  The most attention was paid to the 3 and 4 year-olds, with last year's disqualified Kentucky Derby winner, and this year's Belmont and Derby winners all lining up for a race.  This year's Kentucky Derby winner, Authentic, won the Classic by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:59.19.  Improbable was one length before Global Campaign, who finished 2 lengths ahead of Tacitus.  Maximum Security finished next, followed by Tiz the Law, Title Ready, By My Standards, Tom's d'Etat, and Higher Power.    A win bet on Authentic paid $10.40; a place bet on Improbable paid $4.80; and a show bet on Global Campaign paid $8.80.  The Perfecta paid $45.40; the Trifecta paid $671.80; and the Superfecta paid $6,711.
Authentic, jockey John Velazquez, trainer Bob Baffert

And that's it until next year's Triple Crown races......

Winners And Payouts From the Juvenile Breeders Cup Races (Plus the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Race)

A couple of my picks either won or placed in several of today's races, so I feel pretty good.  I'm not fond of betting on favorites, so I usually do pretty good, keeping my spending limit.  I list payouts for a $2 bet throughout today's and tomorrow's posts.

Race 5 at Keeneland today was the former Breeders Cup Marathon - now the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance race.  It was run at 1 and 5/8 miles , was a Grade II, and the guaranteed purse was $200,000.  The winner received $120,000, and all of the entries received some cash earnings.  There were 14 horses competing, and the early morning betting favorite was Ry's the Guy, who won the race in 2018.  The winner was Rocketry, a 6-year-old horse, who covered the 13 furlongs in 2:42.57; he won by one length over Mirinaque (ARG), who was 1 length ahead of Dack Janiel's.  Three lengths back in fourth place was Danny California.  The rest of the order of finish was: Muralist, Que Plus Parfait, Signalman, Tenfold, You're to Blame, Job Security, Farmington Road, Cupid's Claws, Militiaman, and Ry's the Guy.   A win bet for Rocketry paid $25.20; a place bet for Mirinaque (ARG) paid $32.60; and a show bet for Dack Janiel's paid $23.00.   The perfecta bet paid $860; the trifecta paid $28,721.60; and the superfecta paid $385,877.80.

In the Juvenile Turf Sprint, Amanzi Yimpilo was a scratch from post 8; 9 through 14 moved one gate to the left, and Blame the Booze started from gate 14. Dirty Dangle was the only filly in the race.  The betting favorite, Golden Pal, a Florida-bred, won the 11/16th mile race in 1:02.82, beating Cowan by 3/4 length.  The show colt, Ubettabelieveit (IRE), was 1 length behind Cowan, and 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Lippizaner. The rest of the field finished in this order: After Five, County Final, Momos, Bodenheimer, Dirty Dangle, Windy Red City, Mighty Gurkha (IRE), Second of July, Into the Sunrise, and Blame the Booze.  A win bet on Golden Pal paid $3.60; a place bet on Cowan paid $8.00; and a show bet on Ubettabelieveit (IRE) paid $8.60.  The perfecta paid $32.40; the trifecta paid $584.80; and the superfecta paid $5,635.80.

The Juvenile Turf was up next, with another full field of fourteen.  The winner was a surprise, with Fire at Will  winning by 3 lengths in a time of 1:35.81 for the mile.   In second place, Battleground was a half-length ahead of Outadore, who was a half-length ahead of Cadillac (IRE) in fourth.  The rest of the field crossed the line in this order:  Sealiway (FR), Gretzky the Great (ONT), The Lir Jet (IRE), Devilwala (IRE), Ebeko (IRE), Mutasaabeq, Go Athletico (FR), Public Sector (GB), Abarta, and New Mandate (IRE).  The win bet for Fire at Will paid $62.40; a place bet for Battleground paid $5.60; and a show bet on Outadore returned $7.60.   The perfecta paid $550.40; the trifecta paid $4,570.20; and the superfecta paid $54,002.80.

A short field of seven met in the Juvenile FilliesVequist won by two lengths in a time of 1:42.30 for the 1 1/16 miles.  Dayoutoftheoffice was a nose ahead of Girl Daddy, who was a nose ahead of Simply Ravishing in fourth.  In fifth was Princess Noor, who was followed by Crazy Beautiful and Thoughtfully.  A win bet on Vequist paid $15.20; a place bet on Dayoutoftheoffice paid $520; and a show bet on Girl Daddy paid $7.60.  The perfecta paid $48; the trifecta paid $232.40; and the superfecta paid $698.80.

Tetragonal (IRE) was a scratch from the Juvenile Fillies Turf, which allowed Invincible Gal to draw in.  Fillies in gates 8 through 14 shifted one space to the left and the new draw started from position 14.  Aunt Pearl (IRE) became only the second filly, so far, to lead from the starting gate to the finish line in this race.  Aunt Pearl (IRE) finished the mile race in 1:35.71, and crossed the finish line 2 1/2 lengths ahead of Mother Earth (IRE), who was a neck ahead of Miss Amulet (IRE).  Two lengths further back was Campanelle (IRE) in fourth, followed by Plum Ali, Spanish Loveaffair, Editor at Large (IRE), Madone, Oodnadatta (IRE), Nazuna (IRE), Invincible Gal, Alda, Royal Appraisal, and Union Gables.

Jackie's Warrior was the morning line and race time betting favorite for the Juvenile Colts race.  A full field of 14 Kentucky-bred colts entered the gate.  Essential Quality won the race by 3/4 length over long-shot Hot Rod Charlie, who looked like he might win, in a time of 1:42.09 for the 1 1/16 mile race.  Hot Rod Charlie was 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Keepmeinmind, who was 1 1/4 lengths in front of Jackie's Warrior.  Three lengths behind, in fifth place, was Rombauer, followed by Dreamer's Disease, King Fury, Classier, Sittin on Go, Reinvestment Risk, Calibrate, Camp Hope, Likeable, and Next.  A win bet on Essential Quality paid $9.40; a place bet on Hot Rod Charlie paid $51.60; and a show bet on Keepmeinmind paid $11.20.  A perfecta bet paid $599.80; a trifecta paid $7,659.20; and a superfecta paid $81,553.80.

All horses and people competed safely.   Back tomorrow with 9 race results!

Vekoma Scratches From Breeders Cup Sprint - And a Friday Undercard Race

Vekoma, the morning line betting favorite (3 to 1) for Saturday's Breeders Cup Sprint race, with a purse of $2 million, was scratched today after developing a fever.  Once he recovers, he'll be retired to stud.  His departure opens the way for Lasting Legacy, the only entry on the "wait list" to step in - if his connections decide to do so.  Lasting Legacy had morning line betting odds of 30 to 1.  He's a 6-year-old chestnut horse bred in Kentucky, sired by Tapizar and out of Sweet Tune.
The other day I lamented the loss of various races through the years, including the Marathon.  Well, the "Marathon" is back, at a shorter distance, and under a new name on Friday, before the start of the "Future Stars Friday" racing.  With the new name of The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Race, the race (previously run at 2 miles, then 1 3/4 miles, then dropped entirely) is now 13 furlongs, or 1 5/8 miles.  It is  a Grade II, with a purse of $200,000, and the post time is 1:50 EST.  (To me, it's a sad commentary on the people in today's world, that a race that takes over 2 minutes to run is "too long" and "boring."  It shows how we, as a nation, have become completely seduced by the quick fix of almost instant gratification. - I'm amazed that the popular "songs" of today last more than 25 seconds.... )
So, just for my own gratification...
****      The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance     $200,000      13 Furlongs
There is a full gate of 14 entries, with all competitors being male, aged between 3 and 6 years.  The two 3-year-olds carry 118 pounds, the gelding who won the race in 2018 (Cupid's Claws) carries 124 pounds, and the other eleven horses carry 122 pounds.  There are 5 geldings and a ridgling, plus the eight boys.  There are 9 bays, a gray/roan bred in Argentina, and 4 chestnuts.  There are three sons of Distorted Humor running against each other.   Other than the Argentina colt, all the entries were bred in Kentucky, with the exception of Danny California, who was bred in New York. Here, I will list the post position, the entry's name and age in [brackets], the morning line betting odds, the sire and the dam.

Saturday's Breeders Cup Races For 3-Year-Olds And Up - 9 Races Worth $21 Million

Friday's Breeders Cup 2020 races are designated as "Future Stars Friday" and are only for horses  that are 2 years old.  Saturday's races are for the older horses.  The United States is just about the only nation to choose "dirt" raising over racing on grass (turf).  That happened when the Colonies kicked off the traces of the English government; they decided to race their horses the opposite from England.  Hence, we breed for light-weight horses who can run short distances on dirt and race counter-clockwise.  Most other nations prefer to race clockwise, on turf and breed for endurance.  This is why, in both Friday's and Saturday's races, you'll see horses from other nations entered in the turf races, while almost every horse entered in a dirt race was bred in the US (with a few from Ontario thrown in).
I covered the Juvenile races in my last post.  Today I cover the Saturday races in like manner.  However, all of yesterday's horses are age 2, and there is a set standard for male and female 2-year-olds.  Saturday's races have males and females running against each other (though some are gender specific) at varying ages.  They, too, have a specific weight to carry for age and sex.  You'll see soon where it's listed.  The sex determination is strange, if you're not knowledgeable about horses: a neutered male horse is a gelding, always; from birth until the age of 5, girls are fillies and boys are colts; at age 5 and after the girls are mares and the boys are horses.  Once a horse is being used for breeding, they are broodmares and stallions.  The father of a horse is the sire, the mother is the dam.
The first of the Breeders Cup Races on Saturday is listed at 12:02 pm Eastern Standard Time, and they are taking place at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky.  No crowds are permitted due to the pandemic.  I will list the name of the race, the amount of the purse, and the length of the race.  Then I'll put in my own, personal comments.  Next I'll list post position, the name of the entry with age in [brackets], the assigned weight in pounds, the morning line betting odds, the name of the sire, and the name of the dam.

***      Fillies & Mares Turf          $2 million        10 1/2 furlongs  (1 3/16 miles)
There is a full field of 14 ladies here, with no wait list.  They range in age from 3 to 7 years in age.  The three 3-year-olds carry 120 pounds, while the rest of the field carry 124.  There is one chestnut, one gray/roan, eleven bays, and, surprisingly, one brown.  (Most horses listed as brown are dark bays, and black legs, muzzles and mane and tail can be seen in certain light.  This filly is a light chocolate brown all over - Terebellum.)  Starship Jubilee was bred in Florida, Mucho Unusual in California, and the Kentucky-breds are: Mean Mary, Rushing Fall, Harvey's Lil Goil, and Civil Union.  There are also two ladies from France and six from Ireland.  - - It's not unusual to have two horses with the same sire running in the same race - stallions cover a lot of mares in any one year.  But in this race, we have two half-sisters with the same mother and different sires.  The shared dam is Starlet's Sister (IRE); she has a 6- and 5-year-old daughter in this race, bred in different countries....  I don't know if this has happened before in Breeders Cup history....

***             Distaff                  $2 million                9 furlongs  (1 1/8miles)
A field of ten fillies and mares will contest the Distaff this year (barring scratches).  The Distaff is always contested on the dirt track, and nine of the ten entries were bred in Kentucky; Horologist is a New Jersey bred filly.  The two 3-year-olds will carry 121 pounds, with the other eight will pack 124 pounds.  The 10 ladies  are from 3 to 5 years of age.  And Swiss Skydiver won the Preakness the first weekend of October.  There are five bays, four chestnuts and one gray or roan.  I will only list the ages of this group, since I explained the weights a couple of sentences ago...

***              Turf                $4 million                    12 furlongs  (1 1/2 miles)
A field of ten for the $4million Turf seems small, for some reason.  But the entries themselves provide a variety: a single 3-year-old colt from Great Britain faces 4-, 5-, and 6-year-olds.  In the group of ten are 3 fillies and 1 mare, 3 geldings, 1 colt, and 2 horses.  One was bred in Ontario, Canada; one in Germany; 2 in Great Britain; 3 in Ireland, and 3 in Kentucky.  There are 4 chestnuts and 6 bays.  Galileo (IRE) is the sire of  the mare running, as well as the 3-year-old colt.  And two of the entries, both 6-year-olds have the same sire, both are chestnuts; but one is a horse and one is a gelding, and they are listed as being bred is different countries...    This is a weight for age and sex race, so everything will be listed.  (The ladies carry 123 pounds, and the 3-year-old colt has 121.)
1.    Arklow [5]                  126      5 to 1        Arch       Unbridled Empire
2.    Magical (IRE) [5]       123      5 to 2        Galileo (IRE)      Halfway To Heaven (IRE)

***              Classic                  $6 million             10 furlongs  (1 1/4 miles)
The Classic gets its name because it's run at the "classic" Kentucky Derby distance of 1 1/4 miles on a dirt track.  This year, all ten entries are male, ranging in age from 3 to 7 years.  The two 3-year-olds will carry 122 pounds, while the other eight will tote 126.  Tiz the Law, one of the 3's, won the Belmont Stakes in June.  The other, Authentic, won the Kentucky Derby in September.  (The Preakness winner is running in the Distaff.)  Maximum Security, who won the 2019 Derby but was subsequently disqualified - to my mind, wrongly, having viewed the tapes over 150 times - is also running in this Classic.  All of the entries were bred in Kentucky, except Tiz the Law, from New York.  Tacitus is the gray/roan in this race, and Improbable is the chestnuts; the rest are bays.  -- And, if you want to make another homage bet, this one with an eye to the ladies,  Title Ready's dam is out of the great Personal Ensign, who won a hard-fought 1988 Breeders Cup Distaff.  --  Since I explained the weight earlier I won't list them below.
1.    Tacitus [4]                   20 to 1       Tapit       Close Hatches
2.    Tiz the Law [3]            3 to 1         Constitution       Tizfiz
3.    By My Standards [4]   10 to 1       Goldencents       A Jealous Woman
4.    Tom's d'Etat [7]             6 to 1        Smart Strike       Julia Tuttle
5.    Title Ready [5]            30 to 1        More Than Ready       Title Seeker
6.    Higher Power [5]         20 to 1       Medaglia d'Oro       Alternate
7.    Global Campaign [4]   20 to 1       Curlin        Globe Trot
8.    Improbable [4]              5 to 2         City Zip       Rare Event
9.    Authentic [3]                 6 to 1        Into Mischief       Flawless
10.  Maximum Security [4]  7 to 2        New Year's Day       Lil Dixie
Improbable is the early betting favorite in the Classic.

Future Stars Friday - Breeders Cup 2020 For Two-Year-Olds

Friday, 6 November will be the first day of the Breeders Cup races this year, and, as in the recent past, the juveniles, or two-year-olds, are showcased.  It's called "Future Stars Friday."  The races will be run at Keeneland this year, for the first time ever.  Post positions were drawn today, so I will start by giving information on the five juvenile races for Friday.  If you've read my racing posts before, you know I write about odd things - like coat colors, and where the horse was bred.  I'll right a small bit about each field of entries and then specific information, which I'll spell out before the first full listing.
The first Breeders Cup race kicks off at 2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time just so you can view it live, if you so desire.
*After listing the name of the race,  the purse amount, and the distance (all entries carry 122 pounds, except the two fillies noted below, who get a 3 pound weight allowance since they are competing against  the male of the species), I will list the post position, name of the entry, morning line betting odds, name of sire and name of dam. *
